Intro to Seed Saving by Seeds of Scotland
Have you ever considered where the seed inside your seed packets come from? Or are you interested in increasing the resilience, adaptability and biodiversity in your garden? Join us on the 28th of August for an Introduction to Seed Saving workshop with Scotland's only commercial vegetable seed producers, Seeds of Scotland to find out more!
Seeds of Scotland is a Highland-based seed company located just north of Inverness.
"At Seeds of Scotland we are growing vegetable, herb and flower seeds in Scotland using agroecological farming practices. We are particularly interested in growing Scottish heritage varieties as well as varieties that will grow well in the Scottish climate. We strive to pay respect to the historical and cultural significance of each seed we sow and the stories they tell."
What to expect on the day:
The workshop will provide all the information required to plan seed saving into your garden next season, along with a step-by-step guide and complimentary 'Seeds of Scotland' seed packet. We will begin with a short theory session followed by some practical examples of different means of pollination and plant reproductive techniques as well as discussions on basic taxonomy and botany of plants we find around the farm. Finally, we will get hands-on and do some practical processing of seeds. There will be plenty of time for Questions and Answers.
The course includes a delicious seasonal farm lunch, tea, coffee and cake - so just bring yourself and be dressed for the weather.

Courses are suitable for all abilities whether you are just getting started or are a seasoned grower.
In order to try to make the course accessible to more people we are operating a two-tiered payment system.
